I am a bad blogger

I LOVE reading other blogs, but am horrible about keeping my blog updated. Actually, I am not sure if anyone reads it, so I guess I do it more for me! Kind of like an online journal of some yearly happenings with the Staiger's. Here are a couple of Halloween pictures, not even a month late, I am doing pretty good. The girls were cowgirls this year. They came up with it by themselves. I love the mummy picture of Zoe. We were at a Halloween party and this was one of the games.

New Picture

I changed my title picture. Seems like it is a once a year thing. The picture is once again from the top of Murphy Dome. Murphy Dome holds a special place in our family's hearts. It was where Shannon and I went on our first real date, the place we took our dogs to the day we got each of them, and has just been one of those places that we visit at least once a year as a family. The girls have both come to expect it! I even hiked around Murphy Dome about 5 days before I had Hailey! I will attach a picture of Zoe and I on top of Murphy Dome right before Hailey was born.

Surgeries

Just a quick little update on me. I don't write too often about just me. Alomst a month ago I had may gallbladder removed, and my doctor found some interesting things while inside of me. He fixed them all up, and I feel SO much better, and can actually eat and not gurt. I took a week off of work and thanks to my amazing intern my class did great. One of the things (one of many) my doctor did find a hernia that needed to be repaired, so low and behold a little less than a month after my first surgery I had my hernia fixed today. I am doing okay, but I do suffer from some severe nausea. It is a bit upleasant, but I will be okay in another 24 hours or so. I hope I am done with surgeries and can work on some other projects!!! The weather is beautiful out, I am working on getting some flowers planted, the greenhouse is done and Hailey and leave for MN on Sunday. Later!

Did You Know?

My goodness, I cannot believe how many paint colors exist in the world. We are at the paint color stage. Well, let me back up a bit. We are going to build, but because I am a bit anal about things, and so is Shannon, we are picking and pricing most things out in advance. Our builder actually loves that we know what we want and have a bagillion spreadsheets to prove it, thanks to Shannon. Back to the paint. We were at the Sherwin Williams paint store today and I cannot believe how many shades of every color exist on the earth. HOLY PAINT COLORS! Anyways, we are going to go with a base color throughout the entire house, and it will NOT be white and then we will do accent walls or possibly a wall in different rooms. It is cheaper to have one base color sprayed through the entire house and then we will do the other painting ourselves. I am breaking away from my greens and becoming a bit more "paint adventurous." I have settled on a burgundy, wine color for the dining room area leading into the kitchen. Not sure where the other colors will go, but have a color called "earthen jug" (burnt orange) picked out, some blues and then some dark greys/browns picked out. Not sure where they will go. Zoe and Hailey have every shade of pink and purple picked out. This process has been a lot of fun so far. We have house plans that we have modified and changed with our builder and are just waiting for them to come back from the drafters in a working form so we can finish cabinet design etc. I think we are getting pretty much everything we want. It is bigger than originally planned, but I want another baby anyways!! :)

HUGE Lessons Learned at the Airport

I was already not happy because I had to come home from my paradise, and then it got worse. We parked the car, checked in and then I got in line for security with the girls while Shannon went to return the car. As we were about to push our things through the scanner Zoe started screaming. GREAT! Apparently there was something REALLY sharp on the ground, and since we had to take our shoes off it had cut her big toe and I kidd you not it was gushing blood everywhere! She was hysterical, I quickly put Hailey back in the stroller and carried Zoe to a bench. Meanwhile like 100 people are trying to push past me and put their sutff in the scanner. WHO CARES! I think Zoe was a bit freaked out by the amount of blood, there was a lot. All of a sudden about 5 TSA agents and 2 police officers were trying to help me. They really weren't of any help, they did want information though. All I could say was, she cut her foot and you need to keep the floors clean! The lady in charge wanted to know if I wanted a medic, I told her I needed some guaze and a bandaid and the next thing I knew the fire department had arrived. YIKES! Apparently if you say you need a bandaid they call the fire department. They were very nice, bandaged her foot and I thanked them. I told them I hoped this was the most dificult call they were going to have all day. Doubt it. LESSONS LEARNED: Make sure the ground below you is clean before removing shoes and don't say you need a bandaid-ask around the crowd for one first. Oh ya, when we finally made it to the front of the line again, Zoe would not take her shoes back off, kindly the TSA agent said it was okay. :) PHEW!
